Osceola County Comprehensive Plan Amendment Litigation
On behalf of the Kissimmee Valley Audubon Society we successfully negotiated a settlement in a case involving a challenge to Osceola County’s revisions to its comprehensive plan. The settlement agreement includes a multi-agency/stakeholder task force to study and plan for development south of Lake Tohopekaliga (“Lake Toho”). This task force will examine the proposed southport connector road and its growth inducing impacts on the local environment. The settlement also calls for a master conceptual plan before any new development may occur south of Lake Toho. The plan must contain safeguards and policies to protect environmentally sensitive areas and listed species (including the snail kite and bald eagle) from any future development.
